RRLRC August 2024 Wales Green Lane Recce Weekend

We have been getting asked again and again to do some laning trips to Wales.

However as a club we haven't done any laning in Wales for a number of years.

Due to this we don't know which lanes are suitable for different drivers and vehicle types.

To build up our knowledge of the Welsh lanes we are planning to do some recce weekends.

To speed up the process we are inviting our members to join us on these recce weekends and give us feedback on the lanes they drive on.

Due to these being recce weekend we cannot advise if the lanes are suitable for you and your vehicle. The lanes have been checked via trailwise prior to the run and any with damage warnings will be avoided or marked on the route.

This event is open to any road legal 4x4, not just Land Rovers.

We will be splitting into groups of 4 with a maximum of 5 groups.

The first recce weekend will focus on the lanes near Llangollen, Wales.

The recce will take place on Saturday 3rd August & Sunday 4th August.

We plan on camping on Friday 2nd August & Saturday 3rd August at 'Into The Wild Camping' campsite at Llangollen LL20 7YY (LL20 7AG)

The cost is £10 per person (children & dogs f.o.c), per night.

The site has basic facilities but we advise bringing your own water for drinking & cooking purposes.

Everyone attending is welcome to join us at this campsite but you're more than welcome to make alternative arrangements or just join us during the day(s).

Please note our ticket price does not include your camping, you must pay this on arrival personally at the Into The Wild campsite if you're camping.

If you're not camping we will arrange a meeting point at the start of the day of each day.

Everyone attending must have pre-booked onto this event.

Please remember this is a recce weekend and we cannot advise if the lanes are suitable for your vehicle or if damage may occur. The club, organisers and volunteers will not be held responsible for any damage that might occur.

The club is run by volunteers and is run as a non-profit. For us to put on our events, it takes various people giving up their free time. Without these volunteers, we couldn't run the club or our monthly events.

We are always looking for more helpers to run the club from more marshals, clerks of courses, group leaders, or help planning/ running an event.

It takes a lot of time behind the scenes to plan each event.

The booking form for this event has been designed to aid us in putting vehicles in appropriate groups. We have a section on the form where you can add any special requirements, including if you want to be grouped with certain people.

The list of groups is sent out seven days before the event. At this point, the groups are fixed and are non changeable.

We will not change groups on the day unless we have a very good reason to. It is not up to members to change groups before or on the day of the event. We do this to make sure all groups are four vehicles or less, to lessen the impact on the lanes and to avoid upsetting other people on the lanes and the local roads.

It is also for the safety of all attending as we have a list of who is in each group and who their leader is. This means we can easily contact each group if we need to, and we can make sure no one is left behind, etc.

Please note anyone:-

- being rude or abusive towards the organisers, volunteer leaders, other members or general public

- ignoring the organisers

- found to be driving off piste or in a reckless manner

- littering or abusing green lanes or campsite

- ignoring these rules and/or campsite rules

- doing something dangerous or reckless

will be reported back to the committee, and if we see it appropriate, they will be banned from future events.

Any illegal activities witnessed will be reported to appropriate authorities and the member(s) will be banned from all future events.
