Chairman’s Words November 2018

Hello, I hope you are all looking forward to the the December club night, let’s hope Santa finds the time to drop in. Well that’s the RTV season over, I would personaly like to thank Simon Wigman for letting me use his car for most off it, I wonder who is ahead in the points. We are still looking for a clerk of course for the CCV at Hamilton hill in December, please let Andy know if you can help out. Just a reminder – Have you put your entry forms in for the annual green lane run in January ?? I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. I Look forward to seeing many of you at the events in 2019. best wishes Alastair

Chairmans Words – September 2018

Hello Red Rose Members,

 

The time has come, yes the AGM is on 2nd of October club night.

 

Obviously all positions on the committee are up for taking, but we are desperate for internal and external social, we did need a magazine editor but thankfully Mr Cornwell Snr has stepped in.

 

On the magazine we have struggled this year, but if we don’t have volunteers to help the tasks won’t get done.

 

As for club nights with no internal social, speakers are not getting invited, we rely on the same members to step up to serve the food and take payment, don’t get me wrong the committee are very great full, but we have 153 members that could help.

 

External social is being broken up in to events that non committee members are taking on (and doing a great job) could you help too ?

 

We are always on the lookout for trial land, the way Ince site is being developed I think we may lose it in the next few years or it will be too flat to be of any use to us.

 

As your out going Chairman (if I’m not voted back in) I would like to personally thank, club members, committee members, clerks, marshals, land owners, sponsors, and all the helps behind the scenes, we really couldn’t do it without you.

 

We are all busy people, we all have lives, but if we don’t muck in and help, there will be less events, less socials, and less trials, it’s your club ! What do you want from it in the next 12 months.

Chairman’s Words August 2018

Hi all,

I hope you’re all enjoying the good weather, it has been dry and sunny for weeks until Monday morning at Cartmel when we were packing up for coming home! We had a nice wet awning and tent!!

I and the committee would like to happily thank all involved that made the war of the roses the success it was, a lot of work goes on behind the scenes and a lot more people get involved than you may think.

I have been asking for and been given feedback that moving the WOR to Saturday was a good idea, I’d love to say it was my idea but it wasn’t thank you Audrey Simm, and she has come up with another for next year, more about that later.

Congratulations to all who won trophies, Red Rose A did it again!

I must say thank you to Simon for letting me beat him in his own car, shame it was a non-champion ship event.

I still have sore ribs from the make shift water slide, how funny was that?!

If anyone has ideas or input to make the weekend better for next year contact any member of the committee as we will happily take in mind any ideas that people have.

Family Membership Level

Red Rose Land Rover Club fun for all the family!

 


To encourage more families to join the club we have changed the way we charge for membership. We now offer a family membership which covers two adults and any children (aged 16 and under) at one address for £25 per year!

 

Even better you can now sign up and pay for the family membership online. This means associates can be paid for online now. This means couples can also use the online membership portal by simply selecting “family membership”
The membership structure remains unchanged ie full, associate, and junior we have just changed the way we charge for it.

 

Please sign up your families as it allows us to host great events like the easter egg hunt, bike trials, toylander trials, camping, Christmas club night Father Christmas visit. It helps with insurance and allows family members where allowed to compete in our trials which keeps our sport and club alive.

War Of The Roses 2018

Our main event of the year is fast approaching. The War of the Roses will be held from the 11th July -16th July at Cartmel Racecourse as last year.

 

As usual there will be all types of trials held throughout the weekend, including CCT, RTV, TYRO and, for the kids, a bike trial. We are looking for marshals and clerks for each of these events so please contact Laurence Gray if you wish to help out in any of these areas. This year the trials will be held on the Sunday and War of the Roses event will be on the Saturday in an attempt to increase numbers at the trials. Other events that will be hosted include welly throwing, trailer reversing, toy lander trials and a colouring competition. All very exciting stuff!

 

Camping


As for the camping side of things we will be camping on the racecourse itself which is only a minutes’ walk away from the centre of town where there will be some discounts in some pubs for members.
A pitch costs £14 per night plus £4 if you are using an electric hook-up point. Facilities on the campsite include showers, toilets and some electric hook-ups will be available but cannot be guaranteed. For booking details please speak to Andrew Akers.

 

The Main Event


The War of the Roses event will be held on the 14th July which is the Saturday of the weekend. Team spaces are filling up quickly so if you wish to enter a team please do so promptly. As mentioned earlier, marshals will be needed for this event to run smoothly, also, because the WOR site is very large, busses for spectators are needed too. If you wish to put your name forward to help out in any of these areas please speak to Laurence Gray, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Remember, if you’re still new to the club, it costs nothing to come and see our unique event and see what it’s all about.

This years presentation evening is at the Dalmeny Resort Hotel in Lytham. The hotel is set on Lytham sea front with stunning views. Just a two minute walk out of the back of the hotel is the lovely town of St Anne’s with plenty of shops and restaurants. This hotel really does have something for everyone. We really hope to see more families at this years bash. The Dalmeny caters for families of up to six with large bedrooms. There is children’s entertainment on every night in a dedicated family bar.
