Jaguar Land Rover today announces it has acquired Bowler, the UK-based manufacturer of all-terrain performance cars, parts and rally raid vehicles.
Founded in 1985, Bowler pioneered the production of dedicated off-road competition cars in the UK and has achieved success in international rally raid events. The expertise Bowler has amassed for all-terrain vehicle dynamics, low-volume production techniques, and proving the durability of components under extreme conditions, is highly sought-after.

Welcome to the War of the Roses 2019 schedule.
Our 32nd Year of this amazing event. We are very pleased to say that Lakeland Land Rover (Coniston) is sponsoring the whole weekend and we thank them for their generous support. We would also like to thank Cartmel Racecourse for the use of their facilities which have proved to be very popular for many years.
This is the premier event of the Red Rose calendar and now firmly established in the national events season. Cartmel racecourse is in a very picturesque Cumbrian setting and very close to the village centre. We are also within easy reach of many areas of interest in the South Lakes. If you are looking for a nice scenic Lake District drive or even a stroll then route sheets are available from Rally Control.
The TYRO will be held on Friday evening, the RTV and CCV are on Sunday with the Bike Trial and Welly Wanging on Saturday evening back on the campsite. These are held on a very different style of land to which we normally use.
The big day on Saturday (THE WAR OF THE ROSES) begins early for marshals and competitors alike. This year the event consists of nine tasks requiring varying skills, knowledge and ingenuity to complete them all successfully, but first they have to carry out a navigation exercise to find the task. On arrival at the task, the competitors have to follow the instructions and complete the challenge in a timely manner. Failure to do so will result in hefty penalties! The tasks themselves vary from hard physical exertion to exasperating mental gymnastics; all require good teamwork and communication skills to complete them successfully. The team with the least number of black eyes at the end of the day could win the ‘Team Spirit’ award.
Vehicle regulations for the main War event are in line with ALRC 2019 rules. The basis of which, is that any vehicle entering must conform to either RTV or CCT vehicle regulations as a minimum standard, with a few specific ASR’s relevant to this event.
Please note that the TYRO, RTV and CCV will be run to ALRC 2019 rules and Red Rose ASRs 2019 and not the ASR regulations relevant to the War of the Roses.
For those of you who have not been before, feel free to come along and observe the efforts of the trial competitors or War teams. Spectators are always welcome but be prepared to walk. Anybody who wants to be a marshal, please contact any Red Rose Official, you will be most welcome.
This year we are running a RC Car trial over the weekend. If you would like to take part please ask at rally control

This year, to keep you cool, at the War of the Roses we have organised a milk man who will bring us milk, orange juice and apple juice. An opportunity to sample the local produce and ideal for the early morning breakfast! The milkman will be on site on Friday and Saturday morning from 8am until 9am.
